 After erection of RE Wall, the next step is to do backfilling. At every stage backfilling is required and also erection of panels is also done. Layer by layer geogrid is given and also geotextile is worn at the side of RE Wall joints. This process continues till the completion of top panels, i.e., RE Wall top.  So what's the use of backfilling? Or why this backfilling is done? To answer such these silly questions are, awkward. As this backfilling is done to fill up the foundation or to maintain the soil at the same level. But what, if this question is about inside the RE Wall. That is, inside RE Wall backfilling is going on, or done.  No need to worry about this. Because in every bridges, where the RE Wall work is going on, backfilling is done inside it.  You everybody know that Bogibeel bridge is a rail-cum-road bridge and it's about 4.94 km long. It is second longest bridge in India, and first longest bridge in Assam (rail-cum-road bridge). It was constructed by Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) with an estimated cost of about 5500 crore. The construction of this bridge started from the year 2002.  But now I am going to tell some facts about this Bogibeel bridge. Since I live in Dibrugarh, the way of entering this bridge is very familiar to me. As a Civil Engineer you must know how the exterior parts of this bridge has been made.  So, as you enter from Dibrugarh NH-37 their is a fore lane road. By entering inside the fore lane road road you get a NH-52B which connects the road from Dibrugarh district to Dhemaji district.   No need to worry these much. After Panel Erection the work is simple. You need to backfill it up-to the loop/cavity. So that Geogrids can enter upto the required position. Fill the soil inside the panels with fine aggregates and rolled it/compact it. After fully compaction of soil your work is ready for fixing the Geogrids into it.  Bring the drawing and see the measurements of Geogrids given in their, and cut it according to it. Geogrid comes in a full length of 100 meters and width around 1.9 meters. Like this.....  After that you cut it piece-by-piece according to required width and required length. When the required number of geogrids are cutted you place it by side or bring it to the erection area to insert it. So that the geogrids can fix the panels. Do it carefully so that no panels remain without it and even as well no panels fall backward.  There are several ways to make levelling pad, for any RE Wall on the excavation pit. You can make a curved levelling pad, straight levelling, one step up-&-one step down etc. But in my case the curve levelling pad is followed, as the RE Wall structure will be in curve position 😂.  And so levelling pad is also made like this, as per the drawing.  Levelling pad is made curved.
