Backfilling

After erection of RE Wall, the next step is to do backfilling. At every stage backfilling is required and also erection of panels is also done. Layer by layer geogrid is given and also geotextile is worn at the side of RE Wall joints. This process continues till the completion of top panels, i.e., RE Wall top.

So what's the use of backfilling? Or why this backfilling is done? To answer such these silly questions are, awkward. As this backfilling is done to fill up the foundation or to maintain the soil at the same level. But what, if this question is about inside the RE Wall. That is, inside RE Wall backfilling is going on, or done.

No need to worry about this. Because in every bridges, where the RE Wall work is going on, backfilling is done inside it. This is done so as to maintain the wall-to-wall distance proportionally, i.e., wall 1 & wall 2. In every RE Wall design, you will see that the vertical height is proportionally inclined. From wall 1 to opposite wall, i.e., wall 2. This is done, so as to maintain equal distribution of load/force, in the trapezoidal cross-section area. For making any road, first an embankment is made in trapezoidal shape and after that the BM & BC starts. Here also same.

In each and every panels you have to maintain the gap and make the broad little with narrow than the previous layer. If the shape is not trapezoidal, then it will not be perfect and in future may be collapse or fail due to heavy moving vehicles. Hence, it should be made trapezoidal in shape, so that external force coming from upward moving vehicle, distributes equally to the ground.

So you have all known that layer-by-layer panel erection is done and layer-by-layer geogrid is also given. This is done so as to control the passive earth pressure coming through the wall. In every panel geogrid is given for this reason.

And also geotextile is given on the panels. What's the reason to give geotextile? Well, it's given just to not pass the sand from inside it. You can see in the picture. Those white-white color are all geotextiles. It's a type of cloth. But this cloth comes in roll, and after that it's cut into pieces by pieces to give at the joints of the panels, to fill fill-up the gaps. So that no fine aggregates or moisture can pass through it.

And again the same process is repeated. Again backfilling will be done, after that giving of geogrids, after that erection of panels, fixing of geotextiles etc. This process will go on and on until the top layer of panel is reached. All these work understands to be easy, seems to be easy. But when you execute it in your site all these things seem something different and also there is a change in some work.

So backfilling of RE Wall is almost different. It should be done in both sides. The outer side, backfill should be done up-to the ground level, whereas in the inner side it should be fill completely up-to the top of RE Wall. This is all about the backfilling today.

How to edit grid systems in Etabs

Okk in the last blog I had discussed about Etabs for beginners. You have got at least some ideas about it. If you have not seen it then click here . But here I am going to discuss how you will edit Grids/Columns in Etabs. As I had said by clicking on "Modify/Show Grid Systems" option a new dialog box appears, their you can edit anything. But you can also do it by different way. On the left side in grid dimensions (plan) you can see that two options are available. One is "Uniform Grid Spacing" and the other is "Custom Grid Spacing". Click on the "Custom Grid Spacing" and you see that Edit Grid Data option is available. Just click on that, and you can edit it as you want by giving the required dimensions in X-axis and Y-axis only. Ok whatever be lets come to the topic. If you have done it like as I have shown earlier then follow those steps. And the one who were new to this blog this is just for that. That's why I underlined with BLUE line an...

MACHINES USED AT CONSTRUCTION SITES

The most commonly used machine at any construction site is JCB where it's technical name is Backhoe. It is the most common and widely used machine in any construction project whether its big or small project. It becomes easier and makes the work faster for the companies at any time of interval.    All other machines such as Transit Mixer, Concrete Mixer, Roller etc are also used in any kind of road project or building project. Transit Mixer is used for large large building projects, bridge projects, some kind of road projects etc. whereas concrete mixer is for small building projects. Roller is used for road project and bridge project for its elevation.  For any building project the most commonly used machines are concrete mixer, transit mixer, concrete pump, bar bending machine, needle vibrator, water pump and many more. All these machinery works make the work easier and faster. Otherwise if the work is done with labourers it will take more time and less efficient ...

Importing AutoCAD into Revit

So today in this blog I am going to explain how I made an AutoCAD 2D plan and then imported it into Revit software. So you read this blog from starting to end, then only you'll understand clearly.  This is all basic and not any crisscross idea or ruthless situation. It's very simple. First you do all the basic steps in AutoCAD, and you know what is that. Going to Format, set up the units and bla, bla, bla. After that making all these set-up you start with the drawing plan. You yourself have created a idea "how my drawing plan will look like" or "how will I make it?" But before going into complex, first you make a simple drawing plan, like this    First you make the lines and after that create the room size and area of your own. You are exclusively expert in that. This is the first and foremost drawing plan you have to make. And the rest you know how to make it. All boundary lines, room shape and size, passage, staircase etc. you know it very well.  Now you g...
