How to Analyze, Design and Detail a Structure in Etabs.

 First of all, I would like to ask you whether you have read the previous blogs or not. If you have not read it then you are going to understand nothing about these designing, detailing and all that. So, if you have not read it, then click here. So that you get idea about something, how to make a structure in Etabs. Ok, now lets come to the topic. 

As I have told you in the previous blogs, how to make beams, columns, staircase and those things; now you are hardly waiting to know, whether the structure you have made are safe or not. So for these you are going to get it in this blog. So after the frame model is completed, now it's time to run the analysis or check it whether it's safe or not.  So go to the Analyze menu tab and from their select check model. After that a dialog box appears and in their click on "Select/Deselect All". It will check the all options. After that click on OK button. 

After that again come to Analyze menu tab and then again click on Run Analysis. It will analyze the structure and the resultant view will appear on your screen. 
😀😀(smilingly) Don't focus on the structure what I have made, just understand the idea what I want to tell you.

Designing
Now it's time for designing. After the analyzing is completed go to Design menu tab and click on Concrete Frame Design and then on View/Revise Preferences. A dialog box appears and click on OK button. But also check it whether the given item of value is correct or not. 


After that again go to Design menu and in Concrete Frame Design click on Rebar Selection rules for Columns and after that again for beams also. For columns give the sizes of bar and spacings as well as for beams also give the sizes of bars and spacings.

So there are many works left to do in Design tab. Again go to Design and in Concrete Frame Design click on Select Design Combinations and after that again on Start Design/Check option. Your structure will be designed by Etabs software. 



Detailing
Now Design is complete and it's time for detailing. So come to Detail menu tab and click on Detailing Preferences. A dialog box will appear and in Force select Kilonewton. 
Again come to detail tab and in Rebar Section Rules select Beams. A dialog box will appear with four tabs Beams, Columns, Piers, Spandrels etc. Now you select each value and give the required specific value in bars size. To each and every value you see on the screen, and also for seismic zone also. Do the same for column tabs also. I know it's difficult to understand and once you practice it, you will know the things simply. For more information see on You Tube. 





And now the last step. After all these detailings are completed it seems like that your work is completed. So again go to the Detail menu and click on Start Detailing option. Your structure will be detailed and on the left side you see that a Detailing box opens. You can see each and everything in their, the bar size, the arrangement of bars, rendering of beams and columns each and everything you want to see. You can also see the results in the result tab option.

How to edit grid systems in Etabs

 Okk in the last blog I had discussed about Etabs for beginners. You have got at least some ideas about it. If you have not seen it then click here . But here I am going to discuss how you will edit Grids/Columns in Etabs. As I had said by clicking on "Modify/Show Grid Systems" option a new dialog box appears, their you can edit anything. But you can also do it by different way. On the left side in grid dimensions (plan) you can see that two options are available. One is "Uniform Grid Spacing" and the other is "Custom Grid Spacing". Click on the "Custom Grid Spacing" and you see that Edit Grid Data option is available. Excavation for RE Wall.

 So, hey guys! How are you? You might have read my previous blogs about panel casting  and panel placing . Now it's time to learn about panel erection or what to do after 3-4 months of casting the panels. So the first step is about excavation for RE Wall. Then only you can erect the panels.
