CONCRETE

As a Civil Engineer we all know that concrete is the most important subject to make any structure. Because without concrete nothing can be made. For providing steel structures, first of all it should be fitted with concrete at the foundation level. For making any infrastructure, concrete is used. Bridges, tunnel, highway columns, underwater structures in all and everything concrete is the self made item for all. So the use of concrete and knowledge of it is very important as a Civil Engineer.

Concrete Tests:-
So what are basic tests made for concrete. Well its very simple, as you had learned in your college life. Then also let me discuss with you once for a revision. The most common two important test are Slump Cone Test & Cubic Test. Yes, you have read it right. In every practical field these two test are done. Slump test is done to know its workability while cube test is done to identify the compressive strength. Other tests are also done such as Compaction Factor Test, Vee-Bee test etc.

There are also Non-Destructive test that are done for concrete to check its durability. They are Rebound Hammer Test, Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity Test, Magnetic Reasoning Test, Electrical method test etc. All these digital equipment test is very interesting and it looks like as if you are different from others and gives the real feel of Civil Engineer.

Mixing of Concrete:-
As we all know that concrete is made by mixing three ingredients i.e., water, cement & aggregates (fine & coarse). It is mixed by three ways, that are: a) hand mix which is done for domestic works or house works, b) Concrete Mixer mix which is done for industrial works or company works, c) RMC batch plant mix which is done for high structure works or bridge works. In most cases concrete mixer mix is used which takes less time to give proper mix and it can be done at low cost also. That means it gives benefit in both ways i.e., less time and low cost. To learn more about this you can click here.

Concrete Transportation:-
Transportation of concrete is done only one way i.e., through Transit Mixer. The Transit Mixer takes the concrete from RMC Batch Plant and after that it come to the site to use it. First of all the workability of concrete is checked with slump cone apparatus and after that the concrete is casted with the help of concrete pump. For better knowledge you can watch this video.

MACHINES USED AT CONSTRUCTION SITES

The most commonly used machine at any construction site is JCB where it's technical name is Backhoe. It is the most common and widely used machine in any construction project whether its big or small project. It becomes easier and makes the work faster for the companies at any time of interval.    All other machines such as Transit Mixer, Concrete Mixer, Roller etc are also used in any kind of road project or building project. Transit Mixer is used for large large building projects, bridge projects, some kind of road projects etc. whereas concrete mixer is for small building projects. Roller is used for road project and bridge project for its elevation.  For any building project the most commonly used machines are concrete mixer, transit mixer, concrete pump, bar bending machine, needle vibrator, water pump and many more. All these machinery works make the work easier and faster. Otherwise if the work is done with labourers it will take more time and less efficient ...

How to edit grid systems in Etabs

Okk in the last blog I had discussed about Etabs for beginners. You have got at least some ideas about it. If you have not seen it then click here . But here I am going to discuss how you will edit Grids/Columns in Etabs. As I had said by clicking on "Modify/Show Grid Systems" option a new dialog box appears, their you can edit anything. But you can also do it by different way. On the left side in grid dimensions (plan) you can see that two options are available. One is "Uniform Grid Spacing" and the other is "Custom Grid Spacing". Click on the "Custom Grid Spacing" and you see that Edit Grid Data option is available. Just click on that, and you can edit it as you want by giving the required dimensions in X-axis and Y-axis only. Ok whatever be lets come to the topic. If you have done it like as I have shown earlier then follow those steps. And the one who were new to this blog this is just for that. That's why I underlined with BLUE line an...

How to make 3D Render in Etabs

Ok, so in the last two blogs I had described about how to make  beams, columns, slabs  and  staircase  in Etabs. But as a beginner for somebody it's easy whereas for someone it's rough to understand or have misconception. If you have not understood or read it then go to the above links and practice it again. And if you have understood then it's good and go forward for the upcoming steps. Because the more you learn, the more you understand. The more you get knowledge, the more you learn new things. So if you want to render like as if I had rendered it then you are on the right website. Just follow the instructions as I have told you.  This is the Rendering view, which I have Rendered. You can also see the 3D View also. After making the complete building structure and modelling all those beams, columns, slabs, staircase etc. you come to the ribbon wizard which is above plan view or 3-D view. You can see a Tick-mark ☑ option which is also known as "Set Displa...
