Modern Kitchen Design

Kitchen design is a challenge today, because of new materials, for tiles and otta finish and advanced technological components. An innovative, stylish, functional and efficient kitchen is the expectation. Kitchen design is supposed to create an environment which is highly individual. Hence, the designer needs to give attention to detail for optimum use of space. Creative cooking starts with a tasteful kitchen. Hence, a durable, perfectly finished and totally functional kitchen is the designer's aim.

Kitchens are not considered as just work place. Considering the time spent in the kitchen, they are expected to create a pleasant, relaxed environment for everyday cooking duties. Today, living, dining and kitchen space have become a center of our home. A focal point where people gather šŸ˜…. A breakfast table becomes a point of attraction and hence TV location also needs throughout location with reference to living, dining and kitchen areas. Placing of appliances and power-points in the kitchen, needs planning.

The Kitchen-Work Triangle

As per the research done by University of Illinois in 1950, a work triangle is that connects the three critical areas where you do different tasks: food storage, cooking and cleaning up. For a smooth-running kitchen, one should avoid obstructing the area between these elements and provide as much as work surface nearby i.e., your refrigerator, cooktop and sink. According to the work triangle theory, the distance between areas should be not less than 4' and not larger than 9'. The three sides of kitchen triangle should ideally not exceed 26'.

Clear Kitchen Plan

Every kitchen must be planned with precision to ensure that you get everything you want from it. Before you think about storage (kitchen cabinet), flooring or work surface, it is important to plan how you will use the space.

  1. How many people will use the kitchen to cook, eat, do laundry, tackle homework?
  2. What kitchen appliances you will need?
  3. What type of sink do you prefer?
  4. How many pots, utensil and gadgets have you got, and would you prefer them on display or hidden in cupboards?
  5. How much food storage in the kitchen do you need?
Once you have answered all these questions, then one should consider how to arrange essential elements in the kitchen.

Modular Kitchen Design

Designing a modular kitchen with all the latest kitchen appliances and modular kitchen accessories is something that we cannot do everyday. The setting of it requires more thoughts and efforts than decorating other rooms of the house. As it is a contemporary design with elegant functionality forms the base of a modern kitchen. It is manufactured at the factory and assembled at the location for installation. We believe that, "the way to one's heart passes through stomach" and the bribes for happy stomach are cooked in the kitchen. A modular kitchen is gaining popularity now-a-days because of its style, functionality and practicality. This kitchen interior design comprises of chimneys, modular kitchen cabinets, faucets and many other kitchen appliances accessories. Modular kitchens are designed to maximize utility and manage space, big or small, efficiently.

All the challenges of a traditional, simple kitchen designs have been overcome by a modular kitchen. The best part of this kitchen is that it is easy to repair and maintain. The technicality and customization along with other modern kitchen design lets you add build-in appliances and gadgets like microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, wine cooler etc.

The kitchen floor is expected to be attractive, non-slippery and comfortable and be able to withstand a great deal of wear and tear. Flooring also needs finish to be tough, easy to clean and resistant to water and grease. Heavily polished floors are dangerous for children and elderly persons.

Kitchen design must be practical first, and then aesthetical. The space available, number of users, their lifestyle, various appliances, safety and budget are the main considerations in kitchen design. One should remember that little design faults are overlooked in a big kitchen, but in a small kitchen every sq.cm. is important. The finishing should be think about first when basic design is decided upon.

How to edit grid systems in Etabs

Okk in the last blog I had discussed about Etabs for beginners. You have got at least some ideas about it. If you have not seen it then click here . But here I am going to discuss how you will edit Grids/Columns in Etabs. As I had said by clicking on "Modify/Show Grid Systems" option a new dialog box appears, their you can edit anything. But you can also do it by different way. On the left side in grid dimensions (plan) you can see that two options are available. One is "Uniform Grid Spacing" and the other is "Custom Grid Spacing". Click on the "Custom Grid Spacing" and you see that Edit Grid Data option is available. Just click on that, and you can edit it as you want by giving the required dimensions in X-axis and Y-axis only. Ok whatever be lets come to the topic. If you have done it like as I have shown earlier then follow those steps. And the one who were new to this blog this is just for that. That's why I underlined with BLUE line an...

Importing AutoCAD into Revit

So today in this blog I am going to explain how I made an AutoCAD 2D plan and then imported it into Revit software. So you read this blog from starting to end, then only you'll understand clearly.  This is all basic and not any crisscross idea or ruthless situation. It's very simple. First you do all the basic steps in AutoCAD, and you know what is that. Going to Format, set up the units and bla, bla, bla. After that making all these set-up you start with the drawing plan. You yourself have created a idea "how my drawing plan will look like" or "how will I make it?" But before going into complex, first you make a simple drawing plan, like this    First you make the lines and after that create the room size and area of your own. You are exclusively expert in that. This is the first and foremost drawing plan you have to make. And the rest you know how to make it. All boundary lines, room shape and size, passage, staircase etc. you know it very well.  Now you g...
