WASTEWATER ENGINEERING

Waste-water engineering is the most important aspect for every Civil Engineers. It is used for the wastage of house water, industrial water, office buildings etc. and for other commercial purpose. It gives us the scientific knowledge viewpoint from every waste-water treatment plant. I felt very interesting when I got to know about this subject called "Environmental Engineering". There are lots of chapters in it but the most special I found is waste-water engineering. It gives me feeling into a different world and a unique knowledge😖. Apart from all about aeration tank, grit chamber, secondary treatment, bilogical decomposition etc. and many other methods. Also from coming water from the sludge, villages, underground water and from all of that taking a sample and testing it in the lab gives me an immense ideas.

Well whatever be, but now I feel that Civil Engineers are the king of whole world. Making from roads, bridges, rails, tunnels, buildings, rivers, dams, canal and many more. And also from earthquake engineering, population forecasting, raw water engineering are all the knowledge and works of Civil Engineers. And also for making from airports, stadiums, hotels, malls etc. are all done by Civil Engineers. I feel myself very lucky that I have choose Civil Engineer during the counselling period in 2017 to register my name.

Well that's all a different story, do not focus on that 😆😆😆😆. But the thing is that when I got to know about waste water engineering in the biological and chemical treatment plant, it gave me a really different feeling and unique knowledge. You will get to know better in this video.

First of all raw water is transported to domestic use for household communities and after that it flows through sewage in septic tank or drains which is later known as waste water. And these waste water is allowed to move through hollow pipes and drains which later falls in the grit chamber and transplanted to the waste water treatment plant.

But you must be confused about grit chamber, process of waste water treatment plant etc. isn't it? At first I also didn't have any idea about it. But as I read and understood I got to learn new things. Without wasting any time let me explain you.
Grit chamber removes fine inorganic suspended(means solid which are very fine) particles like clay, silt, sand, egg shells etc. This grit chamber is also known as detritus tank.

Primary sedimentation tank (PST) allows the flow of water at low velocity. The heavier inorganic particles settles at the bottom of the tank while the lighter particles float on the liquid level which moves across it.
Secondary treatment is the process that is done at second step after primary treatment. It consists of the biological products that are determined in the laboratory such as micro-organisms.
Aeration tank is used to remove the clogging particles where mechanical aerators are developed to diffuse air efficiently. It helps to solve the clogging process.

Tertiary treatment is the final treatment that removes non-biodegradable organic pollutants and a significant percentage of nutrients like nitrogen and phosphorus.
