COMPACTION OF SOIL IN RURAL AREAS

You might have wondered what is the difference between compaction of soil in rural areas or urban areas😄😄😄😄😄. Compaction means compaction only where it is used to remove air voids.💥💥 But here I am going to discuss about the compaction in villages, i.e., what the villagers do in house for compaction of soil. They niether use machineries nor any rollers. For them hand-made compaction is only the best, whether it takes less time or more. But it dosen't matter to them. All they want to things at low cost. And specially for Indians where we seek for low cost to do any particular work.

Same is the case in our home also. We brought two labors to bring the upper layer soil to lower layer so that it can be place at the same level. So that there will be no difference between up-down or undulated land. And after placing the soil they used dhoormus( a local term used in our language) to compact it. At least two to three blows is allowed to fall on it so that it becomes cohesive and fully air tight. You can see in the picture.

Well it takes more time but its cost is low i.e., they charge low cost. Eventually, like that also it is possible if the area is small and the work is just for two to three days. But if the area is large and the work is for 2-3 months then machineries are used. Such as in the case of road construction, airport runways, canal etc. But for house-works, where the area is small and the soil is to be filled then hand-made compaction technique is only used. It is rammed by rammer.

After compaction of soil, bricks are placed on it. So that the soil does not become clay or muddy during rainy day. It is because the soil is loose and fully moisturize condition. So to prevent from all these bricks are placed on it, so that swelling or shrinkage does not occur.

The area which you have compacted all should be covered with bricks. But don't go misconception with the term that "all should be covered with bricks". Wait, wait, it's not like that, that you should have to cover all with bricks. Specially, for the areas where you regularly come and go or frequently used that area. Well you identify by this image, because saying is of no use if you can't imagine it.

In this image you can see that, only the required area is covered with bricks. The rest on the left side is kept free because it is not frequently used. But the area that is frequently used and also dosen't matter day, night, rainy etc. is only covered with bricks. I don't know what I am saying, but you are able to understand, then that is only fine. 😇😇😇😇😇

Whatever be, I have tried to give you the difference between compaction in rural and outside areas where large projects are done. In what type of projects machineries are used and where hand rammer is used. So in every house-works compaction is done by rammer only.

How to edit grid systems in Etabs

Okk in the last blog I had discussed about Etabs for beginners. You have got at least some ideas about it. If you have not seen it then click here . But here I am going to discuss how you will edit Grids/Columns in Etabs. As I had said by clicking on "Modify/Show Grid Systems" option a new dialog box appears, their you can edit anything. But you can also do it by different way. On the left side in grid dimensions (plan) you can see that two options are available. One is "Uniform Grid Spacing" and the other is "Custom Grid Spacing". Click on the "Custom Grid Spacing" and you see that Edit Grid Data option is available. Just click on that, and you can edit it as you want by giving the required dimensions in X-axis and Y-axis only. Ok whatever be lets come to the topic. If you have done it like as I have shown earlier then follow those steps. And the one who were new to this blog this is just for that. That's why I underlined with BLUE line an...

How to make Staircase in Etabs

In the last blog I had described about making beams, columns, slabs/roofs in Etabs. But I forgot to tell you how to make staircase. Apology for that. But today in this blog I am going to discuss how to make staircase in Etabs. So before making Staircase first of all delete one side of the slab by single click. But remember one thing in the story side you should have to click "All Stories" so that automatically all slabs will get deleted and required gap and positioning will be appeared.  First click on All Stories After that select one portion of slab   After that go to Edit menu and click on Delete   Then one part of the slab of each story becomes hollow So doing the following steps you can now make the staircase. As for staircase we need hollow section at the top of it, so that it's free to move. In practical field also you can't provide staircase if the roof is covered with slab. Now the main procedure begins for Etabs.  Go to define tab menu and click on Se...

How to make 3D Render in Etabs

Ok, so in the last two blogs I had described about how to make  beams, columns, slabs  and  staircase  in Etabs. But as a beginner for somebody it's easy whereas for someone it's rough to understand or have misconception. If you have not understood or read it then go to the above links and practice it again. And if you have understood then it's good and go forward for the upcoming steps. Because the more you learn, the more you understand. The more you get knowledge, the more you learn new things. So if you want to render like as if I had rendered it then you are on the right website. Just follow the instructions as I have told you.  This is the Rendering view, which I have Rendered. You can also see the 3D View also. After making the complete building structure and modelling all those beams, columns, slabs, staircase etc. you come to the ribbon wizard which is above plan view or 3-D view. You can see a Tick-mark ☑ option which is also known as "Set Displa...
