CEMENT BAG

Well every Civil Engineer must know about the quality of cement used on the site. There are some laboratory test and as well as there are some field test also. But how you will check the cement on the site without any apparatus😨? Well that's really sort kind of thing. First of all, after opening the cement bag see that there are not any lumps occurring in the cement bag. Take some little amount of cement on your hand and see that no mould like shape appears on it. It should be smooth and free falling

Now let us come to the main point. In some cases there may be a problem you can face on the site that less cement bags are available according to the need of yours. So what you will do on that day. You cannot stop the work otherwise there will be no salary for you as a fresher. You should have to come each and every day to up-grow your career as a Civil Engineer. So look for other sort of works where less cement bags are needed or do woodwork such as shuttering work, framework etc. Otherwise there will be no work for you to do or you should have to stop the work on the site which will be a huge loss to the company. So don't panic because of less cement bags in the site, do some other shortage of work where you can regenerate it. Because it will take more than 3 to 4 days for bringing other bags of cement in the site.

Let me clarify you with a simple example. See in my case, the site where I am working at has only 18 bags of cement left on it, but the required no bags need for casting is 22bags for two footing. But if I think of using all those 18 bags for two RCC footings then there will be no cement bags left over for next day to work in the site. So with all those tensions and difficulties, there are only six foundations left for PCC shuttering and concreting, and we went through with that work because less number of cement bags are required for those kind of works. Therefore , continuously for three days we made all those foundations cleared with PCC and the remaining RCC work will be done till the next cement bags appears on the site. So like that you will have to utilise your brain and keep the work continuous to go on so that not a single day you should remain unwork.

But wait, the topic is soon not yet over. What you will do with the old cement when new cement appears on the site after few days. The step is just simple. Just bring the old cement bags at side apart and enter the new cement bags inside it. Because keeping the new cement bags with the one's will damage and will be of no use. It's like keeping the rotten apple with the good one's. So as a Site Engineer or Site Supervisor be careful with all those things.

MACHINES USED AT CONSTRUCTION SITES

The most commonly used machine at any construction site is JCB where it's technical name is Backhoe. It is the most common and widely used machine in any construction project whether its big or small project. It becomes easier and makes the work faster for the companies at any time of interval.    All other machines such as Transit Mixer, Concrete Mixer, Roller etc are also used in any kind of road project or building project. Transit Mixer is used for large large building projects, bridge projects, some kind of road projects etc. whereas concrete mixer is for small building projects. Roller is used for road project and bridge project for its elevation.  For any building project the most commonly used machines are concrete mixer, transit mixer, concrete pump, bar bending machine, needle vibrator, water pump and many more. All these machinery works make the work easier and faster. Otherwise if the work is done with labourers it will take more time and less efficient ...

How to edit grid systems in Etabs

Okk in the last blog I had discussed about Etabs for beginners. You have got at least some ideas about it. If you have not seen it then click here . But here I am going to discuss how you will edit Grids/Columns in Etabs. As I had said by clicking on "Modify/Show Grid Systems" option a new dialog box appears, their you can edit anything. But you can also do it by different way. On the left side in grid dimensions (plan) you can see that two options are available. One is "Uniform Grid Spacing" and the other is "Custom Grid Spacing". Click on the "Custom Grid Spacing" and you see that Edit Grid Data option is available. Just click on that, and you can edit it as you want by giving the required dimensions in X-axis and Y-axis only. Ok whatever be lets come to the topic. If you have done it like as I have shown earlier then follow those steps. And the one who were new to this blog this is just for that. That's why I underlined with BLUE line an...

Excavation for RE Wall.

So, hey guys! How are you? You might have read my previous blogs about panel casting  and panel placing . Now it's time to learn about panel erection or what to do after 3-4 months of casting the panels. So the first step is about excavation for RE Wall. Then only you can erect the panels. So let us learn about this excavation part.  You all know excavation work is done by JCB or Falkland. To excavate the soil and then carry it to the other dumped areas. But before excavation you all know, to marked the center line as well as the outer line also so that the area doesn't excavate much as per the requirement. For excavation just you need to take 500mm more, then that of the given drawing.  Doing this excavation is easy. But what to do if it's flooded with rain water/ or water coming from other sources. Definitely your answer will be to do dewatering work with a water pump. That's fine. But do this dewatering work with almost by fixing 3-4 water pumps. So that it soaks...
