MANAGING CONSTRUCTION SITE AS A SITE ENGINEER

First of all I would suggest to all site engineers that be careful of mistry, mason etc. They would prevail that they know each and everything about construction or building a structure. As a fresher you would never know of about how to argue with the mistry or how to understand them about the work. All that things seem to impossible but rather you would have to make it possible. Because if you leave the site by showing your tiredness or relaxation about arguing with them they would think you to be a lame fellow and dosen't know anything about the work, as how to execute it or how to make the work fast and steady.

Apart from mistry and masons, if you work in a company as a fresher then be careful about supervisor and contractors (but main with supervisor). As supervisor always remains on the site and guide the laborers, he thinks himself to be the best but does all 2 no. works. Never the underestimate your power, because these things always happens in the beggining, but once you you gain experience, you will be the best for each and every work.

Be careful with each and every part of the work. There may be something wrong also as well as there may be something perfect also But you will get no reward for perfect works but you will hear from each and everyone for imperfect or wrong works. As in my site I am getting wrong with my pedestal column works where honeycomb like structures were being formed or in some height of the head is more. So where the pedestal column head is more, I should also have to do less backfilling for this head.
As you can see because of more height of the pedestal column, so less back filling would be done, and it is marked with mud. Ohh but the pedestal column is is not viewed here perfectly, wait let me put the another one.
Yeah now it's perfect for you to see the pedestal column and the marking of the head. So be careful with this things. It would be highly restricted in private companies as well as in government agencies.

Moreover be careful with the honeycomb like structures. These happens when the mistry fails to use the vibrators or dosen't compact properly. More-over there is no technical about the use of vibrator for mistry. They only just have fun with it or use it like a fowl game. But you know and have studied about it, what the vibrator does. It does compaction and spread the concrete and cement with uniformity in all directions, which reduces honeycomb and cracks within it. So be careful with all these works.

The pedestal column has honeycomb like structures due to the poor use of vibrator.

More-over while working on the site there are also some electrical machinery tools which are always kept improper order. Electrical machinery tools such as wood cutter machine, grinding machine, tiles cutter machine, rod cutting machine etc. and many more. There are also some mechanical machines such as water pump, concrete mixer etc. So be careful with all these machinery items as these are the main tools that helps us in easy work and less time consuming. So mess up like this:

As a fresher many site engineers dosen't know how to prefer the excavation depth, breadth in the beggining. All of them are experienced with the layout but while doing excavation with JCB or Backhoe (technical name of JCB) thy dosen't match up with the accuracy. And yeah it is not possible to make the accuracy depth and broad with Backhoe as it carries out lot of earth in the pocket. So after cutting the earth with Backhoe it then done manually by labors to give the perfect match of footing.
This is the excavated pit after JCB earth cutting

After excavation with JCB these are the labors who make the excavated pit to give a perfect match for footing and it is done manually

And last one of the most important thing is that before putting any shuttering first of all clear the ground water otherwise this will lead to defect and would mix up all the cement with water and flow with them and as a result it the concrete strength weak and later will lead the structure to failure.
In this picture the shuttering was putted within the ground water and after that it is removed the very next day. But these is not the right order.
The right order is this. So be careful with this kind of silly things.

MACHINES USED AT CONSTRUCTION SITES

The most commonly used machine at any construction site is JCB where it's technical name is Backhoe. It is the most common and widely used machine in any construction project whether its big or small project. It becomes easier and makes the work faster for the companies at any time of interval.    All other machines such as Transit Mixer, Concrete Mixer, Roller etc are also used in any kind of road project or building project. Transit Mixer is used for large large building projects, bridge projects, some kind of road projects etc. whereas concrete mixer is for small building projects. Roller is used for road project and bridge project for its elevation.  For any building project the most commonly used machines are concrete mixer, transit mixer, concrete pump, bar bending machine, needle vibrator, water pump and many more. All these machinery works make the work easier and faster. Otherwise if the work is done with labourers it will take more time and less efficient ...

How to edit grid systems in Etabs

Okk in the last blog I had discussed about Etabs for beginners. You have got at least some ideas about it. If you have not seen it then click here . But here I am going to discuss how you will edit Grids/Columns in Etabs. As I had said by clicking on "Modify/Show Grid Systems" option a new dialog box appears, their you can edit anything. But you can also do it by different way. On the left side in grid dimensions (plan) you can see that two options are available. One is "Uniform Grid Spacing" and the other is "Custom Grid Spacing". Click on the "Custom Grid Spacing" and you see that Edit Grid Data option is available. Just click on that, and you can edit it as you want by giving the required dimensions in X-axis and Y-axis only. Ok whatever be lets come to the topic. If you have done it like as I have shown earlier then follow those steps. And the one who were new to this blog this is just for that. That's why I underlined with BLUE line an...

Excavation for RE Wall.

So, hey guys! How are you? You might have read my previous blogs about panel casting  and panel placing . Now it's time to learn about panel erection or what to do after 3-4 months of casting the panels. So the first step is about excavation for RE Wall. Then only you can erect the panels. So let us learn about this excavation part.  You all know excavation work is done by JCB or Falkland. To excavate the soil and then carry it to the other dumped areas. But before excavation you all know, to marked the center line as well as the outer line also so that the area doesn't excavate much as per the requirement. For excavation just you need to take 500mm more, then that of the given drawing.  Doing this excavation is easy. But what to do if it's flooded with rain water/ or water coming from other sources. Definitely your answer will be to do dewatering work with a water pump. That's fine. But do this dewatering work with almost by fixing 3-4 water pumps. So that it soaks...
